Please don’t be put off by the negative reviews they don’t reflect our experience at all. Complaints about small charges (like a takeaway container) overlook the reality of running a small business and felt unreasonable to us. We dined on Tuesday night as a table of two and had an excellent experience from start to finish. For entrées, we ordered the duck pancakes 🦆 and chicken skewers both were full of flavour and beautifully prepared. For mains, I had the crispy chicken and my friend chose the pork belly. The food was outstanding, and the service was attentive friendly and perfectly timed. It’s genuinely hard to find a great Thai restaurant, but this place ticks all the boxes ✅ • Excellent service • Convenient location • Delicious, well-prepared food Absolutely worth a visit. We’ll definitely be back.
Second time in 3 days as we both just love the food soooo much!!! The food is on point and portion size is really generous wish we had a Thai restaurant as good as yours back in New Zealand. We will be back on our next vacation
Just had the mongolian styr fried duck. It's unbelievable how amazing the food is. Highly recommend it! Staff is super friendly as well. Worth every cent!
What an amazing find in Southport, tucked away in a quiet street. This was by far the best Thai Food we have had since arriving in Australia 14 years ago. All the food was so tasty, beautiful flavours and with fresh vegetables. Service was great too. Definitely coming back soon. Thank you 😊
Very impressed and pleasantly surprised by this little unassuming Thai restaurant. We were greeted by a lovely and helpful staff member. The food was piping hot, with fresh vegetables and delicious flavours. The spring rolls were crispy and tasty. The lunch specials were very reasonably priced, quick and yummy. We were very pleased to support this genuine and quality local business.

Back again October 2024 - Excellent as always Update August 2024 - Wow it is now even better - excellent food and fast friendly service Went there last week with some friends for dinner and it was totally amazing. Very nice atmosphere and decor plus full BYO wine and beer, which was great. The food was absolutely outstanding. We started off with the duck pancakes and coconut prawns, then for mains we had Southport fish which was incredible, Singapore noodles and sweet-and-sour chicken. All the dishes were excellent, really tasty and fresh. The owners were really nice too, and came out and had a big chat with us at the end. Great food and service all around highly recommended.
The fish with tamarind sauce is a must-try — you won’t be disappointed as they say. Great food, lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, and a clean, well-organised space. We went for a farewell dinner with friends and felt warmly welcomed from start to finish. Highly recommended! I will definitely come back.
It was like walking into a Thai kitchen felt so personal like going to the owners home for dinner . (Air cond being a bonus ) the service was prompt and friendly . The food was some of the best food I have had for a long time. Fresh and made with love . We will be back to work our way through your great food and menu 10/10
Ta Wan Thai is such a humble little Thai restaurant with amazing food. Everything we ordered was so tasty and full of flavour. The dishes tasted fresh, authentic, and well made. Service was lovely as well, and the overall atmosphere felt very welcoming. Plus, they’re BYO which makes the experience even better. Definitely one of those places you’ll want to come back to again!
